Chesterfield’s Irish-born winger, Jamie Devitt, believes the club should be looking at promotion from League Two this season.
The 23-year-old, who signed for the Spireites after being released from Hull City, has worked with manager Paul Cook before whilst on loan at Accrington and felt this was the right club for him.
Devitt said: “When I first came in I knew the type of player the gaffer likes so I fitted in and the lads have been great.”
The former U21 international said that he has learned something from every club he has played for and feels he can continue his improvement with The Spireites. He added: “There is plenty of competition here and I want to push the lads as far as I can. I want to create as many chances as possible and also grab a few for myself.”
Devitt thinks that the club is currently in a division lower than they are capable of and it’s up to the dressing room to change that.
The midfielder said: “We know what the aim of this season is, there is one focus and that’s getting this club out of this division and climb the leagues.”
