A Spireites-supporting couple enjoyed a VIP day at the club, where they were allowed behind-the-scenes access.
Alan and Pat Fortescue made the highest bid in Peak FM’s auction in aid of Ashgate Hospice, winning the chance to watch a training session, in between eating breakfast and having lunch with the players.
Alan said that the club had been very welcoming, adding that it was great to see the players in training. He said: “I just think it’s been a brilliant day. Everything has been first-class. Everyone seems upbeat and I’m glad I’m not a player because they are working them hard.”
First-team coach Kevin Lynch, who chatted to the pair, said: “It’s great to build good relations between the players, the staff and the fans and hopefully they go away and tell everyone how much the players are putting in.”
