Spireites Manager, Paul Cook, feels Gary Roberts and Sam Morsy have a lot to offer the team going forward into the new campaign.Roberts, who signed a three-year contract on Saturday, June 22 and Morsy, who joined the Spireites for two years on Saturday, June 29 are both players that the Chesterfield boss has had his eye on for a while.
Now they have both joined the squad at the Proact Stadium, Cook feels they bring a certain amount of balance to the team. He said: “We want to bring young, hungry players to the club but we’ve got to have that vital ingredient of experience as well.”
Speaking about Roberts, Cook said: “It’s easy to play football when you’re playing well, it’s when you’re not playing so well that you’ve got to show your character and Gary’s certainly got plenty of that.
“He’s been a Championship player in his career, he’s 29, he comes to us with every box ticked and that’s really pleasing," added the boss.
Morsy, who completed his move to Chesterfield from Port Vale, is a player that the manager has known for a number of years. Discussing the midfielder, Cook said: “I watched Sammy play football as a young lad growing up and he was always the best player on the pitch.
“He can handle a ball, he can drive forward, he can penetrate into the box and he can tackle so he’s certainly going to be a good player for Chesterfield.”
