Chesterfield Football Club are delighted to announce that goalkeeper Tommy Lee has signed a new contract.
Lee, 27, has pledged his future to the Spireites club until the summer of 2016 after signing a new three-and-a-half-year deal.
Tommy, who started his career at Manchester United, has been a key player for Chesterfield since joining the club in 2008 after leaving Macclesfield.
Speaking to Spireites Player following the new deal, Lee said: "It's something that we've been talking about for a couple of weeks and I am pleased to sign."
Chesterfield chief executive Chris Turner is delighted to have reached an agreement with Lee, who would have been out of contract at the end of the season.
He said: “It’s great news for the club and I’m sure the fans will be delighted because Tommy is the best goalkeeper outside the Championship, in my opinion.
“He is a key part of Paul Cook’s plans and we feel the loyalty he has shown to the club is fantastic.”
Lee has been named Supporters’ Player of the Year for the last three seasons.
Subscribers to Spireites Player will be able to watch an interview with Tommy Lee later on today.
