Drop Pounds and Raise Pounds!

28 January 2013

Sponsored by

After over-indulging on cheese over the festive period the club's mascot, Chester the Fieldmouse, is on a mission to get healthier and lose a bit of his excess weight!

Chester has decided to issue a challenge to the people of Chesterfield and North Derbyshire to join him in his quest. As an extra incentive and to add motivation, Chester is asking those taking part to seek sponsorship which will be shared equally between the Chesterfield FC Community Trust and Prostate Cancer UK. The Community Trust is the club’s charity, working in the local community to provide lots of opportunities for local people to take part in physical activity, to improve their skills and to become healthier. Prostate Cancer UK is the Football League’s official charity for 2013.

Chester is inviting all Chesterfield FC fans and non-fans alike (aged 18 years and over) to register to take part in the 12-week challenge. A target amount of weight to lose can be set or lifestyle changes to improve health. This campaign is open to anyone already part of a slimming scheme (i.e. Weightwatchers, Slimming World) who may have a slight advantage!

The campaign will finish on Friday, April 26 and for the 12 weeks of the campaign, tips and advice will be posted on the Community Trust's Facebook page and Twitter feeds to help those taking part to achieve their goals. Feedback and encouragement for others taking part in the challenge is welcome. There will also be details of local events and sessions which help people get more active.

Although this challenge is time limited it is hoped that people will be encouraged to make lifestyle changes that will become part of their everyday life. We strongly recommend that anyone thinking about taking part in the challenge sets healthy, realistic and achievable weight loss or slimming goals under the guidance of their GP. A health care professional should be consulted by anyone who has any medical problems, or is on any medication, or if they have any concerns prior to or during their sponsored slim.

To add even more incentive to everyone undertaking the challenge there will be prizes for the most successful slimmers. Prizes to be won include free match tickets, signed match balls and a trip to watch the first team at a training session! We hope that people will rise to the challenge and join Chester in getting 2013 off to a healthier start!
