Paul Cook has urged supporters to be patient with new signing Armand Gnanduillet as he finds his feet in English football.
The 20-year-old striker, who hails from the Ivory Coast, joined Chesterfield earlier this week after impressing on trial.
He has been playing in France for Le Havre and Poissy and Cook points out he will need time to show his full potential. “Armand is going to be very raw early on but he’s got really good attributes,” said the Spireites boss.
“He’s a very willing lad who doesn’t mind a physical challenge and he won’t let anyone down for effort because he will work and run.
“We’re going to have to work on his technique but we have a feeling that he could develop into a really good player.
“The next couple of months will be big for Armand and it’s important we give him our full support because he’s not the finished article. Hopefully he’ll develop into that.”
Gnanduillet, who has agreed a deal until the end of the season, has been handed the number 21 shirt.
