Cook: "Our Mentality Must Be Right"

Spireites boss Paul Cook is looking for his side to go about their task in the correct manner at the weekend.

Bottom side AFC Wimbledon are the visitors to the Proact Stadium, a game in which the manager will be hoping to get back to winning ways.

Cook was in attendance at Vale Park in mid-week where Saturday's opponents went down 3-0 to high-flying Port Vale.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the gaffer wants his right to not only approach the game with the right attitude but start at a good tempo as well.

He said: "If we want to be in [the promotion picture] then Saturday become a must-win game, there's no such thing as must-win in football because they all are. Rochdale was, Southend here [the Proact Stadium] was.

"So you're trying to emphasise a point to try and make everyone think 'oh we're up for this one more than the last one'. It doesn't work like that.

"They're [AFC Wimbledon] bottom of the league with not a lot to lose. We're expected to beat them, we expect to beat them, but our mentality must be right.

"How we start the game Saturday is vital. If we start at the right tempo and do the right things it'll become a good afternoon. It we do it at the wrong tempo, we do the wrong things, it'll become a very difficult and uncomfortable afternoon."
