Southend United will visit the Proact Stadium on Saturday in the second round of the 2013/14 FA Cup.

The Spireites advanced to the second round of the competition by defeating Daventry Town 2-0 at the Proact Stadium in the first round in early November.

In last season's competition Chesterfield beat Hartlepool United 6-1 at home before losing in the second round away at Tranmere Rovers.

Chesterfield approach the fixture having lost just one game in their last nine, falling 3-2 to Newport County at Rodney Parade in the Sky Bet League 2 fixture last Sunday. The North Derbyshire side have conceded just four goals in their last eight games in all competitions.

Southend United progressed to the second round of the FA Cup by defeating Morecambe 3-0 at the Globe Arena in the first round.

The Essex side come into Saturday's game having won five of their last six games including victories over Portsmouth and Mansfield Town. However, in their last outing at Roots Hall, Southend were denied victory in the 96th minute as Cheltenham scored a penalty to secure a 1-1 draw.

The two sides have already met at the Proact Stadium this season. Armand Gnanduillet scored deep into stoppage time to award Chesterfield with a 2-1 victory in the August Sky Bet League 2 game.

The Southend United boss told the club's official website: “We’ll go there on Saturday with belief. We want a good FA Cup run and we showed that in the last round when we went to Morecambe.

“The FA Cup is a special competition and I’ve had some wonderful memories. For these players it’s all about getting into the third round and drawing a big club.

“That’s the prize at the end of this game – a place in the third round – but we know we will have to be at our best to come out on top.”

Chesterfield: 1/1 Draw: 5/2 Southend United: 11/4
