The Spireites beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 in a private practice match at their opponents' training ground on Tuesday afternoon.

Eoin Doyle scored both goals with one of them coming from the penalty spot.

The match gave Ian Evatt another opportunity to step up his return to full match fitness and he played for the full 90 minutes.

Other senior players in action included Ryan Edwards, Jamie Devitt and Saturday's match-winner, Armand Gnanduillet, who partnered Doyle in attack. Aaron Chapman was in goal.

A couple of un-named triallists "both performed well" in the words of assistant-manager Leam Richardson.

Richardson declared that he was very pleased with the work-out, adding: "It's good to get into a winning habit and it was a good game, all-round, against a strong Wednesday side."
