Spireites midfielder, Jimmy Ryan, was disappointed not to get the victory in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Rochdale.
The Liverpudlian, who joined from Scunthorpe in the summer, was an instrumental figure in midfield, providing an assist for Gary Roberts’ equaliser mid-way through the second half.
Speaking to Spireites Player after the game, Ryan said: “I’m disappointed with the result, I would have liked to have had a win, but personally I’m happy with my performance. I’m looking to take it into the next game.
“We would have liked to have had three wins out of three, and I think today we could have. I think we got caught up a bit in the penalty decisions and let the game go a little bit, but in the second half we pushed on and showed the mentality that we want to win.
The midfielder enjoyed the playing conditions yesterday, and said it suited the Chesterfield style of play.
He added: “I love it when it’s a flat pitch and there’s a lot of water. It’s good for the whole team, because we like to pass it around, get the lads in space, move the ball quicker, and it was ideal today.
Having struck up a midfield partnership with Sam Morsy, Ryan was full of praise for his teammate and feels they work well together.
“Sam’s a very good player and we complement each other well. We know how each other play now, and hopefully we can keep it going. The front four make mine and Morsy’s job easier."
