First Team Coach, Kevin Lynch, hailed the performance of the squad as they ran out 2 - 0 winners over Bury on Saturday afternoon.Chesterfield took all three points away from Gigg Lane and Lynch believes that it was a deserved reward for the players who applied themselves throughout the game.
In an interview with Spireites Player, the Liverpudlian said: “The lads conducted themselves superbly, they got the rewards for the hard work that they put in.”
With Ian Evatt and Liam Cooper sidelined for Saturday's game, Ryan Edwards and Sam Hird stepped in as the central defensive partnership and came away with a clean sheet.
“I think it’s important for every club to have strength in depth and competition for places and that’s what we’ve got here," said Lynch, who felt the duo put in a strong performance.
It wasn't just the defensive side to Chesterfield that Lynch was impressed with. The First Team Coach believed that the squad threatened the Shakers from all areas of the pitch.
He said: “There’s goals throughout the team, if they try and isolate one then another will pop up with a goal.
“Good players find time and space to play in and we’ve got good players at this club," explained Lynch.
The performance of the travelling support was also recognised by the Spireites coach.
“I must take my hat off to the travelling supporters, I thought they were outstanding. At times, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up," added Lynch.
