Paul Cook is under no illusions about the importance of Saturday's game against Bradford.

Though Chesterfield's season still remains in the balance, a win this weekend will take them within one point of the play-offs with just three games of the season remaining.

The Spireites face a resilient Bradford side that have won four of their last five games and are looking to secure their own play-off spot.

Speaking to Spireites Player, Cook Said: “It’s a game that a lot of people didn’t think we’d be involved in but with four games to go, if we win on Saturday, then the season continues.”

“We know we’re going to face a strong Bradford side on Saturday, but we’re a very strong side at the minute as well and we’re in very good form."

Chesterfield were unfortunate not to take maximum points from second-place Port Vale earlier this month and the manager would like to see a similar performance from the team on Saturday: “If we play as well as we did against Port Vale against Bradford, I'm very confident we’ll win the game,” he said.

“When we lost to Torquay everyone said the season was over. Mathematically we’ve seen in football that strange things happen, every year there’s a team that breaks into the play-offs, there’s a team that’ll win a cup that no one gives a chance to. Whether we’re that team or not remains to be seen.”
