Chesterfield will continue their defence of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy against Doncaster Rovers.

The Spireites, who clinched the trophy last season courtesy of a 2-0 win against Paulo Di Canio's Swindon at Wembley, will travel to the Keepmoat Stadium on the week commencing October 8.

Caretaker manager Tommy Wright notched his first win for the Spireites against League One Oldham Athletic in the North East First Round, in a repeat of last year's area final. Matt Smith gave the Paul Dickov's the lead midway through the first-half, but Danny Whitaker squared things up in the second-half.

The former Latics man then missed a penalty against his former club, but Smith's own goal at the death booked the Spireites' place in the Second Round.

Ticket information will be announced shortly.
