Midfielder Chris Atkinson said that when he heard of Chesterfield's interest in signing him, there was "only one answer".
The 20-year-old joins from Championship side Huddersfield Town on a youth-loan deal and he is relishing the chance of first team football.
Atkinson enjoyed a spell with Darlington last season before heading back to the Terriers where he made a first team appearance against Scunthorpe in April.
Speaking to Spireites Player after joining, he said: "I've had a great opportunity to come here and play football, its a fantastic stadium with fantastic support and for me there was only one answer really."
The Halifax-born player operates as a box-to-box midfielder in the middle of the park, and like to influence the game as much as he can.
"I like to get up and down the pitch, get on the ball and try to make things happen," Atkinson said.
"I work hard, keep it simple and try to pop up with a goal now and again.
"The team is more important than me. I'll get out there pass it about and hopefully the results will come.
"I just want to come here and play lots of football; it's what I love doing."
