Evans: 'It's Fantastic To Be Here'

27 September 2012

Blackburn loanee Micah Evans revealed he was raring to go at the Proact Stadium after competing his loan move from the Championship newcomers earlier today. The 19-year-old winger joins the Spireites from Ewood Park until January, as caretaker manager Tommy Wright looks to bolster his attacking options ahead of the visit or Torquay United on Saturday.

Evans took part in his first training session with his new team-mates this [Thursday] morning and confirmed he was desperate to get going against the Gulls.

"It's fantastic to be here, I just want to get out there and play my football," the youngster told the club's media staff after having dinner with his team-mates.

"I had a few League One or Two clubs interested, but Chesterfield were the main club who showed a lot of interest and I like the way they play football so I just want to come here and do well.

"My first training session went well, we did a bit of 11 v 11 and it was lively. It was the first time i've been here, I don't know anyone but the lads have welcomed me well. The fans can expect a lot of positivity. I'll just be direct and try to create a lot going forward. I play right-wing mainly, but I can also play anywhere up front."

Evans has been on the Spireites' radar for some time and a move to Derbyshire had fallen through earlier this season after he picked up an injury. He spent last season on loan at Accrington Stanley, scoring three goals in 24 appearances at the Crown Ground and he said he is hoping to learn from that experience.

"I know what to expect now," he added.

"Last season at Accrington, I didn't really know what to expect but I settled in quickly and I know what is required of me.

"I just want to come here and do well and wherever that takes me, who knows. I just want to play well. Tommy has watched one or two of my games back at Blackburn and he said he knows what I can do. He has put a lot of faith and confidence in me and I'm hoping I can do what I do well.

"If Tommy decides to play me, I'm ready whenever he calls."
