Derbyshire County Cricket Club have accepted an invitation to attend Chesterfield’s game against Torquay United this weekend.

The invitation was issued after Derbyshire won the Division Two title and a party of players and officials will visit the Proact Stadium on Saturday to parade the trophy at half-time in the match.

“We’re looking forward to seeing the players and officials from Derbyshire,” said Spireites chief executive Chris Turner. “Their title win comes just six months after we won the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Wembley and it’s great that people in the county can celebrate another sporting triumph.”

Derbyshire chief executive Simon Storey said: “We are delighted with this opportunity to share the success of the county and the team with all at Chesterfield Football Club. It will be a proud moment parading the trophy at the Proact Stadium.
“We love our annual visit to the town for the summer Chesterfield Festival of Cricket and we are lucky to have the backing of a loyal group of supporters and members in the north of the county, some of whom I’m sure follow the fortunes of the Spirerites also.”
