Caretaker-manager Tommy Wright offered no excuses after seeing his side go down to their first home league defeat of the season, losing 2-1 against Dagenham & Redbridge. Sam Williams scored twice for the visitors with a goal from Jack Lester sandwiched in between.
Wright said: “It was disappointing, especially in the first-half. I thought we were poor and we lacked energy.
“We told a few home truths at half-time and there was a good response. I thought in the second-half we were good. We created one or two really good chances and Jack scored a good goal.
“We worked so hard to get back in the game and then we gave another sloppy goal away.”
Wright was pleased with veteran duo Lester and Luis Boa Morte, who was making his debut after signing this week.
“I thought Luis and Jack were terrific but one or two more needed to step up to the plate. We didn’t think he (Luis) could last 90 minutes but he was one of our best players.”
