Paul Cook expressed his delight at signing defender Liam Cooper on loan until December 1.
The 21-year-old joins from npower Championship side Hull City where he became a regular at the end of last season.
Speaking to the official website about the signing, Cook said: "We are delighted with the signing of Liam Cooper.
"He is a player that attracts a lot of interest from clubs, and not just in this division.
"Liam brings great experience, he has played in the Championship, and with Sam Hird suspended and Neal Trotman injured it was important that we got someone in immediately and to get a player in of Liam's quality is fantastic.
"We know we need to strengthen in other areas. We are working on it every day but at the moment it's difficult because club's don't want their players cup tied but like I said we are working on it."
Cooper will go straight into the squad for Saturday's game with Hartlepool, subject to the relevant paperwork being cleared.
