New Chesterfield FC club patron, His Grace the Duke of Devonshire, has invited players from the League Two club to train in his back garden!
The duke, who accepted the Chesterfield role last month, will be in attendance as the players take part in a training session in the grounds of Chatsworth House next Thursday (July 19).
The duke is looking forward to welcoming the management and players to his stately home.
He said: “My family has a long relationship with Chesterfield and as our nearest Football League team, I’m delighted to be involved as club patron and give my support by having them train at Chatsworth.
“The team will be training on the South Lawn in the garden and I’m sure our visitors will be delighted to see the team preparing for the season ahead.”
The link between Chesterfield and Chatsworth House goes back many years. The duke’s late father, who was the 11th Duke of Devonshire, was club president for around half a century until he passed away in 2004.
