Entering his sixth season as a Spireite, Jack Lester is looking to put the disappointments of last season behind him.
The 36-year-old endured a frustrating season last term, picking up a number of injuries which kept him out of action.
However, the talismanic striker is determined to make amends this season and is feeling the benefits of a tough pre-season programme.
He said: “It’s been very tough. I’ve not been able to do much since March so I found it quite tough but I’ve got six weeks to get fit.
“It’s as hard as I expected but it’s what I need to be doing so it’s been useful.”
Lester is confident that it can be a successful campaign for the Spireites as they look to bounce straight back to League One.
“I think the chances (of promotion) are quite high," he said. "I think the signings have strengthened us. Looking at the squad, I think that we’re more than capable of getting out of the division.”
