Chesterfield continued their pre-season scoring spree with a 5-1 victory over Matlock Town.

Goals from Scott Boden, Jordan Bowery, Mark Randall and two for new signing Marc Richards secured a win for the Spireites on a scorching hot evening in Derbyshire.

Assistant manager Tommy Wright was delighted with the effort showed in testing conditions.
He said: "If you don't put effort in you'll get found out.

"In the two games we've played so far the effort has been first class."

"We passed it well and scored some good goals, perhaps could have got a few more, so we're pleased so far."

Marc Richards enjoyed an impressive first 45 minutes in blue, curling home a fee-kick from 30 yards and adding another from the penalty spot, and Tommy feels that that form is set to continue.

"That's why we bought him to the club, there were a lot of teams chasing his signature", Wright said.

"We had good backing from the owners to bring him to the club and I'm sure he'll be a great acquisition."
