Chesterfield are supporting a drive to urge people in the town to give the gift of life this Christmas.
NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is appealing for blood donors to come forward between Christmas and New Year to ensure life-saving stocks are maintained.
Each donation can potentially save the lives of three people.
The Spireites are backing the call, encouraging local residents to attend a session at the club on Thursday, December 27.
Ashley Carson, director of Chesterfield FC, explained the reasons for the club’s support, saying: "This is a very worthwhile cause and also a great venue to use as a donor centre.
“I would hope that both existing and new donors will come forward this Christmas and give their blood."
The players are also behind the cause, with defender Liam Cooper (pictured) promoting how people can find out more or make an appointment through NHSBT’s website and Donor Line.
Holly Mason, lead donor relations manager with NHSBT, said: “We are very grateful to Chesterfield FC for their support.
“We know the festive season is very busy for people but we’re asking them to spare a thought for hospital patients who need blood.
“You can give the gift of life this Christmas. Please come and see us at Chesterfield FC, you really will make a difference.”
The session will be at Chesterfield Football Club, Proact Stadium, 1866 Sheffield Road, Whittington Moor, Chesterfield S41 8JT on Thursday, December 27 from 12pm to 2.45pm and 4.15pm and 7.30pm.
