Manager Paul Cook is determined to bounce back from a disappointing result at Southend United.
The Spireites went down 3-0 at Roots Hall but Cook, as with a win, isn't getting too carried away by the result.
Speaking to Spireites Player ahead of York's Boxing Day visit to the Proact Stadium, he said: "We deal with defeats, and I'm being quoted on numerous occasions, the same way we deal with win. Reflect, analyse and get better.
"We've had a great level of performance so far, it's been fantastic, it's been a great journey so far. We've had some great wins but Friday night [against Southend] was totally unacceptable.
"York have had a fantastic season so far, coming up from the conference. They've had some really good victories and are in a very healthy league position.
"We respect York greatly but the emphasis must be on us. If we prepare well and we play well you've seen what we can do, if we prepare well and don't turn up, we've also seen what can happen, so it's important we concentrate on ourselves and get ourselves focussed and in the right frame of mind to play a football match."
Chesterfield's task will not be helped by the absence of striker Marc Richards.
Richards limped off just before the break on Friday night and is unlikely to feature over the festive period.
"He's [Marc Richards] going to be out for a short period. Unfortunately, with the games coming up over Christmas, how long is a short period?
"The likelyhood is for our supporters thathe won't make the game on Wednesday [against York], we'll then alayse from there. But one thing we can't do is put our players at risk."
