Chesterfield Football Club relieved manager John Sheridan of his duties earlier this week.
Tommy Wright has now taken charge of the side as caretaker-manager, with Mark Crossley acting as his assistant.
Chief Executive Chris Turner spoke highly of the new-look management team and revealed that they would be given a fair crack at the whip.
Speaking to Spireites Player following the managerial changes Turner said: "Somebody had to pick up the reigns, so Tommy and Mark will pick up those reigns.
"They’ll be in charge and its up to them to show what they can do."
Interest in the position has certainly been high with a number of managers and representatives getting in touch about the vacancy.
"It's an unbelievable profession is football management," Turner said.
"It is amazing that within minutes of a person leaving a post you have got numerous applicants already putting in for a job.
"We’ve had a lot of candidates already in for the post, they will be filed and if and when they need to be looked at we’ll look at them all.
"But Tommy and Mark are in charge, Tommy’s the decision maker, and it’ll be down to them to get this team and this football club moving forward as soon as possible."
