Drew Talbot is pleased with the added experience bought in by manager John Sheridan.
The Spireites have made five summer signings, who bring plenty experience of playing at a higher level.
Speaking to Spireites Player, Talbot revealed that the additons made by the club will have a positive impact.
He said: “We’ve signed players that have played at championship level for a number of years which is important.
“All they can bring is experience and that can only be a positive for us.
“We were disappointed last season, we thought we had enough, but the table didn’t lie and performances just weren’t good enough in parts last season.
“But with the gaffer signing the players that he has done, we’re quietly confident and we’re going to give it our best shot.”
Although the 26-year-old was confident of Chesterfield's chances, he believes that the division will be tough to get out of.
“There are a lot of good teams in this league now," said Talbot.
“You look at the people spending a little bit of money, so it’s going to be tough but if we go ahead and have the same mentality as we did the season previous when we went up, it’ll stand us in good stead.”
