Jacob Hazel scored twice as the reserves opened their Central League campaign with a 4-0 win at Hartlepool United. Scott Boden and Mark Randall also got their names on the score-sheet.
Boden opened the scoring towards the end of the first-half with a curling effort from outside the area.
Early in the second-half, Randall bent the ball with the outside of his foot from 25 yards following a quick counter-attack to make it 2-0.
Hazel capitalised on a mistake from the keeper to add a third and then rounded off the scoring with a fine finish after getting on the end of Darikwa’s cross.
Coach Mark Crossley heaped praise on the team. He said: “I’m really proud of them all because they looked sharp and showed a great attitude.
“I told them before the game that it’s a fresh start for everyone and that they all had a point to prove.
“Craig Westcarr and Scott Boden linked up well in attack and Mark Randall opened up their defence for fun. Richard O’Donnell didn’t have a lot to do but he made some great saves when he was called on.”
