After trailing at the break, second half substitute Jack Lester scored an equaliser on 68 minutes for Chesterfield - an angled drive across the 'keeper into the far corner.
Six changes at half time with Craig Davies partnering Jack up front and he almost got a second for Chesterfield. Running onto a loose ball his low shot was gathered by the Alfreton 'keeper coming off his line.
There were further substitutions as Chesterfield manager John Sheridan ensured all his squad got a taste of football.
Halftime report
A 38th minute goal from Alfreton's Liam Hearn the difference between the two side in a first half that started pretty even until Chesterfield started to turn up the heat after 25 minutes. Jordan Bowery poked the ball just wide, Craig Clay, Drew Talbot ballooned their efforts over the bar.
The goalkeepers an either saved the day with great saves at close range, Shane Redmond , trialist from Forest, tipped Anthony Howell's shot wide, and at the other end Paddy Gamble spread himself to deny Danny Whittaker.
The Spireites were then caught out by a good fierce drive from Liam Hearn. His 6 yard angled shot was parried by Redmond but he couldn't take enough of a sting out of the shot to stop in trickling in.
Danny Whittaker headed just over late in the half, but it's the home side with their noses in front at the break.
