The Spireites players reported back for the start of pre-season training today but were in for a surprise. 

The first two days of pre-season training are based at Saltergate before training switches to the club's regular training base at Warminster Road, Sheffield from Monday.

It was a special day for five former Chesterfield scholars, Craig Clay, Chris Tingay, Tendayi Darikwa, Ryan Granger and Jimmy Adcock, who all started the their first day as new professional footballers with the Spireites. 

Two players not joining the main group were defender Aaron Downes and midfielder Jamie Lowry who are both in rehab with physio Jamie Hewitt as there recovery from knee operations continue.
