Chesterfield reserves were in action in the sunshine in front of a crowd of over 100 at Saltergate.

There were few clearcut chances on goal in a first half that was evenly contested.  Martin Gritton posed Chesterfield biggest threat and hit the bar.

The game opened up more in the second half with Forest taking the lead, a strike that in the end proved decisive.

Both goalkeepers had to be on their mettle, with Matt Malak coming out quickly to bravely smother a number of times when a second goal looked on the cards.

Chesterfield had the best chance of the game to equalise when Martin Gritton met the perfect cross but headed just wide with the goal at his mercy.

Jordan Bowery in action

There was some good late play from the Spireites when Forest had to dig deep but despite getting into some good positions in the box the final execution was found wanting.
