A hat-trick for Martin Gritton helped seal a convincing 6-2 victory over near neighbours Mansfield Town.
Chesterfield were soon on the goal trail when Jordan Bowery scored in the first five minutes. His shot was parried by the keeper to provide a simple tap in from the follow-up.
On the half-hour the Spireites scored a second goal which was contested, not be the opposition but by two Chesterfield players. Whilst Paul Harsley claimed his free kick, which was fumbled by the Stags 'keeper, had crossed the line, Terrell Lewis was equally adamant that he got the final touch to score the goal.
Martin Gritton got on the scoresheet five minutes into the second-half with the goal of the game. After six or seven passes the ball was played out wide to Terrell Lewis, whose cross provided the chance for Gritts to score with a near post header.
