Healthy Eating for Youth Team
Chesterfield's youth team players have been finding out the basics of good healthy cooking and eating when they recently visited a local cookery school, which provides advice on healthy food options for sports people.
Coghlans Cookery School, based at Sheepbridge, each year runs a special charity fund-raising event called 'Our Sporting Chefs', which raises money for BBC Children in Need and also enables them to provide healthy eating training for local sports clubs and young professionals.

When the Chesterfield youth team squad visited with their manager Dave Bentley they learned how to make Fresh Pasta with a Fresh Tomato Sauce, Kofke Kebabs with various spices and Omelettes.

The cooking was organised by head of Coghlans Cookery School Janet Coghlan and Simon Lilley head chef at Coghlans led the teaching.

The young footballers enjoyed the fruits of their labours, enjoying what they had cooked in the adjacent tasting room before leaving with recipes and hints as to how to look after their own healthy eating menu at home.

Youth team manager Dave Bentley said: "For some of the lads it was a real eye-opener on how easy it is prepare a healthy meal from fresh ingredients and they are all keen to put into practice what they have learnt."
This year, Coghlans fund-raising Sporting Chefs Dinner will be held on Thursday 15 October and will pitch sporting legends against each other in the kitchen, producing different courses for over 50 guests - go to www.sportingchefs.co.uk for more details about the charity.
