Chesterfield 2 Hartlepool United 0
Dave Bentley's young guns were cut to the bare bone as an injury struck Chesterfield outclassed second place Hartlepool United at Warminster Road. With the visitors putting five past Mansfield Town last weekend and the Spireites missing four key players, it seemed as if Chesterfield would be up against it, but that wasn't to be the case.
Two goals in two minutes, through Tendayi Darikwa and Josh Wright, topped off an impressive Chesterfield display, which proved that last weekend's defeat at Apperley Bridge was just a minor hiccup.
Within the first ten minutes Chesterfield had produced two half chances on goal, but Wright, with both efforts, couldn't quite make the early opportunities count. Despite poor finishing, Chesterfield's attacking moves were encouraging to see, with the midfield four of Craig Clay, Jimmy Adcock, Sam Smith and Darikwa all producing some first class football.
In the history of football, there have been streakers and even animals invade the pitch, but never before - or so I have witnessed- as a parachutist landed on the pitch during open play. In the 22nd minute, out of nowhere, a parachutist landed on the far side of the half way line, with the referee forced to stop the match until the pitch was clear, the embarrassed sky diving fanatic quickly scampered off with all limbs intact.
With the match continuing, Hartlepool found a way through the tight Chesterfield defence on 28 minutes. A slip by right back Jake Handbury allowed Pool their first on target shot of the match, but goalkeeper Scott Webb stood his ground well and saved from close range. Webb's save was immediately met by an on running Pool player, who from six yards looked destine to score, but unfortunately for him, and fortunately for Chesterfield, centre half Sam Clare cleared off the line in dramatic fashion.
Just moments later the visitors were again on the attack, a rarity so far, but this time the best they could produce was a tame low driven shot collected easily by Webb.
Chesterfield retaliated and almost took the lead when a well worked Spireite corner picked out Darikwa, whose strike went wide of the Hartlepool goal. Although, no less than a minute later, Sam Smith almost achieved what Darikwa couldn't, when his volley on the right hand side almost beat the Pool keeper from an acute angle.
Both teams went in at the break goalless, but the home side had produced the better of the chances.
Chesterfield kicked off the second half in magnificent manner, when Darikwa gave the Spireites the lead within 50 seconds of the re start. Striker Jordan Burrow used his strength to hold up an instantaneous Chesterfield attack, until the on running feet of Adcock arrived and with just one touch produced a first time cross to perfection, as Darikwa was gifted with the easiest of chances.
The Spireites wasted no time in creating another attack and doubled their lead just one minute later. Again, Adcock was the producer, but this time it was Wright who found the target to take make it two goals in two games for the pacey forward.

Josh Wright was also on the scoresheet
Almost identical as the first goal, Adcock's cross picked out Darikwa, but the midfielder's generous touch teed up Wright, who from just yards out didn't have much work to do.
Chesterfield continued to look to add to their tally and were in total control of the game. Clay's corner almost lead to another Spireite goal, but Burrow and Darikwa managed to get in each others way, with the chance going begging.
Against the run of play, the visitors produced a fine long range effort, but Webb, at full stretch, produced a fine save to avert any real danger.
Chesterfield sustained their pressure and were unlucky not to increase the score line more, when Burrow's stylish volley from close range ended up the wrong side of the post and Adcock's long range chance also met the same fate.
In the end, Bentley's side ran out clear winners, with an impressive team performance throughout.
