Current league champions Chesterfield kick off their new season in the Youth Alliance league this Saturday 15 August 2009 against Bradford City at Apperley Bridge.
Dave Bentley will surely be hoping his side can start the new league campaign better than last, when the Spireites suffered an opening day defeat at Hull City.
Pre-season didn't exactly start in the best of ways for Bentley, but after two one sided matches the Spireites soon got back on track and finished up with three victories out of their five games, including a seven nil thrashing of Teversal.
Throughout these matches, Bentley has given all his squad members sufficient time to prove their worth on the pitch, with John Sheridan even offering extra opportunity for the youngsters.
The Bantams were twice defeated by the Spireites over the course of last season, with Adam Smith's 18 yard strike being the difference the last time the two met.
Although since then, ex Manchester United player Chris Casper has departed Bradford as Youth manager, being replaced by former Bantam's defender David Wetherall, who has led his side through a similar hectic pre-season schedule as the Spireites.
Saturday's match is scheduled for an 11.00am kick off and will take place at Apperley Bridge, Bradford.
