The Spiretes youth team players reported back for pre-season training on Monday 29 June 2009.  The youth team set themselves high standards last season as champions of their Puma Youth Alliance League, a trophy title they will be out to defend.

The existing second year scholars have been joined by nine new boys.

As part of their preparations for the new season the youth team have pre-season friendlies lined up away at Hucknall Town (23 July ko 7.30pm), Teversall (27 July ko 7.15pm), Oadby Town (31 July ko 7.15pm), Calverton (5 Aug ko 7.00pm), as well being involved if needed in first team squad games at Garforth (20 July ko 7.45pm), Glapwell (25 July ko 3.00pm), Buxton (29 July ko 7.45pm), and Sheffield Club (3 Aug ko 7.45pm).
