Birmingham City ran out 4-1 winners against Chesterfield in a behind-closed-doors friendly at their Wast Hills training ground.
All five goals came in an exciting first half of the game.
A strong line-up saw Birmingham generally dominate throughout against the League Two outfit. The Blues included new signings £500,000 Honduran International striker Carlos Costly and Northern Ireland U21 International Robin Shroot.
In fact, new signing Robin Shroot scored after just eight minutes, with a curling shot into the top corner. Five minutes later a second goal came when Tunisian Radhi Jaidi volleyed home from close range.
Although the home side looked to be coasting, the Spireites scored a fine goal when Lee Askham beat the offside trap and dinked the ball over the grounded 'keeper.
A controversial third goal came for the home side when Gary McSheffrey's corner was adjudged to have crossed the line following consultation between the match officials.
A Birmingham trialist scored a fourth goal before half-time.
There were few clear-cut chances for either side in the second-half. Chesterfield nearly scored a second when a 25 yard free-kick heading for the top corner was tipped away by the Birmingham 'keeper.
Chesterfield's Jared Wilson dislocated a finger during the game, and although he was able to finish the game after treatment, he is to have a precautionary scan this week.
