Match action for Chesterfield reserves after travelling to the West Midlands for a friendly training game against Aston Villa at their superb Bodymoor Heath training ground, near Tamworth.
The outcome was a creditable 0-0 draw with the Spireites up against some multi-million pound talent.
The tallest defender in the Premiership at 6ft 6ins, Zat Knight, signed by Aston Villa from Fulham for £3.5 million, midfielder Wayne Routledge signed from Spurs for £1.25 million, and super-sub Marlon Harewood signed from West Ham for £4 million were all included in the Villa line-up.
Both sides went close to scoring, closest for Chesterfield coming from Scott Boden and substitute Jordan Bowery.
Youth team central defender Sandy Moller replaced an unnamed trialist at half-time, which enabled Derek Niven to move from the back four to his more familiar midfield role.
Debut for youngster Sandy Moller
All-in-all it was a very good workout for the Chesterfield lads.
