You were 24 last Thursday and a free agent next summer and so it was important for Chesterfield that you have agreed terms. But there is still the opportunity to move to a bigger club if that opportunity arises.

It's always a risk to walk out of a contract so I thought long and hard and I want to play football which should generate interest. So I think I have made the right choice so I am here to enjoy the football.

You have been here a few years and wasn't it Lee Richardson that recommended you to Dave Rushbury?

Yes I have been here four years and I remember that Lee Richardson watched me play in the reserves for Leeds against Everton. So I am thank full to being brought here and I have enjoyed my time here.

Some ups and downs Bradford City away and some lows with injuries

All players have some down periods and I had a few close together with injuries and I have learned to cope with that and so far this season I have managed to stay fit.

Both Roy and Lee Richardson have said you have all the attributes to play at a high level but until recently  when it's taken off.

I have shown parts of it during my time here and I have not really had a consistent run in the team. But I worked hard during the summer and given it my all every game.

Are you aware of your nickname of "Bambi on ice" last season and this season its "Raging Bull"

I was not aware of the first one and they are a bit different. I have heard Raging Bull a few times recently and that's fine by me. I just go out there and work my hardest every time I play.

What is it you like about being a professional footballer?

I have always wanted to play football and you dream of playing at the highest level. I started off at Leeds with players of the highest standard and I have learned so much from that, and will keep working hard to try and achieve that dream.

Football fans can be very fickle, the people who boo one week can be clamouring for contract extensions the next can you understand that?

You get that in football you can understand the frustration and it's not nice when people boo but it's something I have learned to live with and it makes you stronger.

But now they are cheering

They are cheering for now I can't complain and I am happy just to be playing and scoring goals

Where you tempted by to sign the new contract by the fans previous reaction?

My decision wasn't based on that it was based around football and how I feel I could contribute to the team.

Can you describe the dressing room situation?

There is a lot of experience with Rico and Roy McFarland and there are a lot of good young players who are gaining experience together. It's a good group and a tremendous atmosphere to work in.

Well its Charlton next week in the Carling Cup

It's another big one and we will be giving it our all again and trying to get three in a row

Well congratulation on signing your contract extension

Thank you very much a pleasure
