YOU NEVER KNOW IF YOUR LUCK'S IN

Posted on: Thu 28 Jun 2007

Colin - you're one of three opening-day scorers for The Spireites. How do you feel about that?

Its important to get off the mark, and luckily for me, and Shawey as well, we managed it. We can relax about that now, and concentrate on scoring more goals.

Tell us about that second half?

At half time we knew that if we just kept the ball and kept it compact we'd break them. We weren't worried about them; I think they over-passed it a bit. For that first goal Hursty's put a great ball in, there's a great touch from Hally and Del's struck it low and hard - great goal.

Your goal was a bit unusual?

The ball's gone to Shawey and I've just gone off running, trying to keep onside. Shawey felt he over-hit it but I chased it down, because you never know if you're luck's in or not. The keeper tried to clear it but it came off me, and sat in front of me, and I just passed it in!

And Shaw got on the scoresheet at the end.

Yeah; great work from Caleb Folan - a great touch from him. He's turned the lad and used a bit of pace and great vision. A good finish from Shawey, too. We'd take 3-0, a clean sheet.

After this, how important is it to get something at home?

Very important. If we perform like we did today it should be a good result.
