I WILL GIVE MY ALL

Posted on: Fri 17 Mar 2006

DEREK Niven revealed to SPIREITES WORLD members why he's agreed a new two year contract to stay at Saltergate. Read the translated highlights right here

Derek Niven Well Derek you have agreed to stay at Chesterfield for two more years, are you pleased about that?

Yes I am very pleased about getting two more years at Chesterfield.  It feels good and it secures my future for the next two years.

Why are you happy to be at Chesterfield?

I have had first team experience, am playing regularly and it's a good club to be at. We have had a reasonable season and hopefully we can finish the season strongly.  Plus all the boys get along well and it's a real family club and we try to play football the right way.

There's been speculation amongst the fans that you could have been leaving?

I had heard a few comments about that but that was complete nonsense and I am more than happy to stay and play for Chesterfield

Was there anyone else sniffing around?

Not that I have heard of.

So how would you describe your season

I have got forward at lot more and scored a few more goals but still can get from box to box and do the dirty work that some people don't see. I am still working every day to try and improve my game and my passing could be better. I think it's reasonable but it could be better. I have not really performed in the last two games so hopefully I can put that right and over the next two years I will work hard and give my all for Chesterfield.
