Roy what's the process involved in the recently announced contract negotiations

There are around eight players, and one in under contract that we are looking at, and this is the first step in those negotiations. There may well be a lot of bridges to cross and hurdles to climb in terms of sorting out the contracts in between. But the important thing is that we have started it and that the Chairman and the board have agreed to do that.

So when will you be announcing which players have been offered what?

I will start speaking to the players and their agents and making offers to them in the next few days. I would then hope to get a response from them within the next fourteen days.

Will there be any players leaving the club?

Just wait and see, it would be unfair at this point to comment on that until the players have seen and responded to the offers we will be making.

Is stability important at the Club

I think stability and continuity is important. We have a good spirit within the club and we want to keep that. Players always like to feel wanted but it's up to the players to decide their futures.

With the Spireites fighting for the play offs and promotion, has the thought of Championship football effected the offers?

I think these players could cut it at a higher level and I would love to take these players with a few quality additions into the Championship. What's pleasing is that we are a young side that's improving and the younger players have really risen to the challenge. Our goal this season is to finish in the top six but of course it would be nice to finish higher. So the real goal is the top six and to see where we could go from there. We know what's required and all the squad believe we can do that.

What's it feel like to be bringing success to Chesterfield which were struggling when you took over

It's nice but it's a collective with all the staff and the board backing what we are trying to achieve and having continuity. We don't have riches so we have to improve bit by bit and at the moment its working for us.
