John Sheridan's latest piece, in hopefully his Spireite promotion chasing jigsaw, Simon Ford spoke to Spireites Player shortly after signing a two year contract to play at the b2net stadium.
Simon initially told Player how the move came about. "John got in contact with me around a month ago and asked if I would be interested in coming down . I then had a look around this tremendous stadium and listening to the manager's plans for the future. I then decided to sign here. I had a few options up in Scotland, and had another one abroad that didn't materialise as quick as I wanted to. But after meeting John and viewing the stadium I decide to come down and join the cause.
What type of footballer is Simon Ford?
Simon replied " I am a ball playing defender, good in air, with decent pace and hopefully I can help to keep a few clean sheets, and add some experience to the side. I have played in the Championship, League One and the Scottish Premier division so don't actually know that much about League Two but the standard seems to have improved and hopefully I might get a few more Jamaican Caps in the future.
When asked about his early career Simon added " It started in the back garden and I signed for Orient when I was ten but didn't really enjoy it and went back to playing Sunday League Football. I signed for Charlton when I was fifteen and stayed there until I was nineteen. I then moved to Grimsby for three years but suffered a few relegations which wasn't the best thing before moving to Scotland."
