New Spireite signing Simon Whaley spoke to Spireites Player after coming off the bench to help the Spireites snatch the points against Darlington.
Simon told Player "It s always frustrating being sat in the bench but the Gaffer said go on and be positive. Mark Crossley said "to shoot from distance "and that was the first thing that came into my mind when the defender didn't come to me so I just hit it and it went in. Drew got the equaliser and then we through everything at them and lucky enough we got the own goal and the three points.
Simon then told Player subscribers about how his move to Saltergate came about and little about his career to date and he added "I spoke to the Gaffer a couple of weeks ago initially and then we spoke again this week and I am grateful now that I have an opportunity to play football again and to prove myself.
"I started at Bury and then moved to Preston which was a good move for me from League Two to very nearly getting into the Premiership. My move to Norwich didn't really work out with the change in manager there my face didn't seem to fit and I was a bit disheartened. So John's now given me a lifeline and the opportunity to prove myself and I won't let him down. League Two is very tight League with no team really running away from it so I am back in League Two and I am here to prove myself again and to help Chesterfield into League One."
