Posted on: Wed 28 Jan 2009

Spireites World TV met new loan signing Drew Talbot and he explained how he jumped at the chance to come to Saltergate. Read the highlights here.

Drew told Spireites World "I have been down at Luton and my chances have been limited for various reasons down there. So I was looking to move back up more towards home anyway, so when Chesterfield come in I jumped at the chance."

He then went on to give World subscribers details of his playing career and added

I started at Barnsley and I actually quit football after having a few bad injuries. My old coach then talked me into joining Sheffield Wednesday and things blossomed there and I made my debut. Then a moved to Luton for a big fee and I sometimes feel I haven't lived up to the price tag. There have been some tough times at Luton with administration but it's a good club.

I have had my fair share of injuries but that's part and parcel of football and you just have to get on with it. I've had a bad back a cruciate but now I'm fit now and raring to go.

Drew then gave details of why he felt he had to leave Luton and said

"From my contract terms when I signed for Luton in the Championship it states that I would get a pay rise if I played one more game. So I have been dragged around the country and left in the stands alot so from my point of view it's time to get out and play football."

Finally Drew described his playing style and attributes

"I am a hard working and I work my socks off for the team and have an eye for goal. I got the nickname of The Rash at Luton because I like to run and don't allow people time on the ball. At Chesterfield I just want to play games again and score goals and have a fresh start. I don't know if my future lies at Luton or not at the moment."
