Midfielder Derek Niven returned to full training this week and could even be included in the squad for the Spireites game against Rochdale at Saltergate on Saturday 10 January 2009, kick-off 3.00pm.

The 25 year old has been recuperating following successful treatment for testicular cancer and has been out since mid-November.

 

Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson said: "Derek has been keeping himself fit and it will be great to have him back.  It almost feels like we are getting a new player joining the squad."

 

If he makes the team against Rochdale it will be his 200th league appearance for the Spireites
