Trevor revealed his footballing roots in Belfast where he started with Manchester United before signing for Sunderland aged sixteen and that Peter Hartley, David Dowson, and Martin Fulop had spoken very highly about the Spireites.

"I know quite a lot about Chesterfield as Peter Hartley, David Dowson, and Martin Fulop all spoke highly about the Club and I have been looking at the website. There was interest from a couple of other clubs but they wanted me as a number two whilst here I am in competition and fighting with Tommy for the number one spot. Tommy's a good keeper so it won't be easy but the competition will bring the best out in us both. I trained with Tommy when I was with Manchester United but he can't remember that though, or so he says."

He then went on to talk about his Northern Ireland career and added:

"I was captain last year and I know Jamie Ward of course from the U21's.  Although it's not ideal I am going to the Ukraine for a mini tournament next week before the next qualifying game in a few weeks time.

He revealed he had captained the international side in all age groups and his personal highlights:

"A couple of highlights was playing in the U17 European Championships and playing against the likes Cesc Fabregas, which was a good learning experience, and then playing in the Milk Cup final last season."

Trevor then talked about his hopes for the season ahead and said:

"I am not really sure what to expect in League Two. Several people have said it will be tough and the standard in the League is improving all the time and Scott Sellar's says it's pretty much how the Championship used to be five or six years ago."

Trevor also revealed that he had had a fantastic day this week:

"On the same day that I found I was coming to Chesterfield I was also told that Sunderland are going to offer me a new contract, so a fantastic day really.  I am excited about coming to Chesterfield and can't wait to get into it".
