Chesterfield showed an interest in me and I was offered a deal at Port Vale where I was happy and captain. But they have just got relegated and it's a bit if strange time around the club. So after speaking to Lee I liked the sound of what was happening here and decided that Chesterfield was a better option for me and we will be aiming for promotion.

About Paul Harsley

I like to think I am a hard working box to box midfield player and can do most things on the pitch and can play other positions if needed. I was born in Scunthorpe just under thirty years ago but started as an apprentice at Grimsby Town and then moved back to Scunthorpe for four years and had some good times there and we won the play off's. I then had a year at Halifax and moved onto Northampton and had a really good time there before joining Macclesfield where we missed out in playoffs. I then went to Port Vale where I have been for the last two seasons.

On the future

The obvious aim is to finish higher in the division. With the players already here and the ones that Lee wants to bring in, it's looks like we are trying to achieve something. The better teams I have played in have had a good team spirit and the right mix of experience and youthful players both on and off the pitch. I am really looking forward to next season and its good to get things sorted out early on before I go away on holiday. Coming to Chesterfield may also mean that we move house from Manchester where I currently live. So it might be a busy summer.
