In another exclusive Spireites World TV interview new signing Rob Page revealed he wants promotion and to be part of a club like Chesterfield that's going forward. Read the highlights right here
A couple of months ago I left CoventryCity and went to Huddersfield because I needed to get away from Coventry to start with and because I wasn't playing games and wasn't involved. So Huddersfield gave me the opportunity to play games and put the feelers out to see what else was out there.
The deal to come here came up in the last couple of weeks and it's something that interests me. Lee was interested in me in January but I made the decision at the time to go to Huddersfield.
On leaving Huddersfield
Apparently the manager come out and said that they had made me an offer and I hadn't got back to him. That's nonsense because I don't treat people like that. My agent was in negotiations with Huddersfield at the time and the deal was more or less done.
Stan Ternent then became involved and basically told my agent that the deal that was virtually agreed was no longer on the table. So I was annoyed that Stan Ternant was trying to say to the Huddersfield fans that they had made me an offer and I hadn't got back to him. So I made my mind up then after the way he had treated me and the lies that had been told to sign for Chesterfield.
Lee Richardson had really sold Chesterfield to me all the way through with his ambition for the club and where he wants to go and the new ground going that's to be built and that's something I want to be part of. The fact I live in Sheffield didn't really have any bearing on my decision, again which was inferred by my previous manager, and if he believes what he said it just proves he doesn't know me at all. It helps that I live locally but that had very little to do with my final decision to sign to Chesterfield.
About Rob Page
I grew up in the Rhonda Valley's and loved playing football and was lucky enough to be picked up by Watford aged sixteen and then turned professional with them and stayed there until I was twenty six. The highlight at Watford was beating Bolton in the play off final and winning promotion to the Premier League.
I then moved to Sheffield United and I had three great years there getting to three cup semi finals. I then moved to Cardiff, which seemed a good idea to move the family back to Wales at the time. But you never know what's around the corner in football. I could have stayed at Cardiff and sat there picking up my money with my parents on the door step. But with two great centre halves in front of me in Danny Gabbidon and James Collins, I wasn't happy not playing. Sitting in the stand doesn't drive me as I want to be playing football. I then signed for Coventry and then I didn't fancy a three hour drive from Wales so we decided to move back to Sheffield.
On his International Career
I made my debut against Turkey at the ArmsPark and Ryan Giggs and Vinny Jones played in the game which we lost. I have played against Brazil, Germany, and Italy and have some fantastic memories from playing for Wales.
The future
I have experience on my side and I like to organise and I won't stop talking on the pitch whether people like that or not that's just the way I am. I like to get everyone going and I like to think the fans will see that I will give 100%.
Lee said there have been a few defensive problems here and if I can help to keep a few clean sheets and we can let people like Jack get on with scoring goals. So from where the club is now and where Lee and the club want to be, I would not have come here if there wasn't ambition. I am sure there will be exciting times next season.
I watched the Hereford a game on sky and Jack was on fire in that game. I have spoken to Jack and Shane Nicholson and they said a lot of positive things about the Club. I want promotion for the club straight away, I want to play, win games and get promoted next season and then help to establish the club in League One and then push on for the Championship.
