Steve Blatherwick failed to recover from a calf injury that kept him out of the Spireites final preseason game at Oxford United .Roy McFarland ket faith in young Australian Aaron Downes to partner Reuben Hazell in the centre of defence and gave Paul Shaw his Chesterfield debut.

2 Space opened for Paul Hall who shot wide of Stewart's left hand post

5 Phil Picken's quick throw found Paul Shaw his first time pass towards Larkin who was under pressure from Browning resulted in Larkin shooting wide.

8  Browning inured in the tackle on Larkin was replaced by Cooke. 

12 Bournemouth tried to build up some pressure and their best effort to date saw new loan signing from Southampton Leon Best drag a shot wide of Barry Roche's right hand post when well placed.

15 Cherries appeal from a penalty after Cooke cross hit Phil Picken in the Spireites box.

17 A mistake by Alan O'Hare gifted Leon Best the ball in the centre circle the lively forward broke towards the Spireites half .Best supported by Brown but the strikers pass  under pressure from Hazell and Downes towards Brown was gathered at the second attempt by the alert Roche. 

22 Niven booked for a foul on Howe

23 Chesterfield free kick was whipped into the Cherries box and the ball was cleared from the head of Downes out to Mark Allott who neatly teed himself up and shot narrowly Stewarts bar from 25 yards.

28 Neat work by Hurst on the Spireites left resulted in a low cross which Shaw dummied and Paul Halls stabbed shot was blocked for the first corner of the game. Hurst's flag kick was disappointing and easily cleared

34 Best found Ainsworth but the young Derby loanee striker flashed a shot well wide of Roche's goal.

38 Aaron Downes clumsily bundled over James Hayter 25 yards from goal. Foley free kick was deflected for the Cherries first corner of the game by Phil Picken.

39 Foleys corner caused uncertainty in the Spireites rearguard before the ball was eventually cleared

41 Hayter shot from 25 yard flow just over the Spireites bar with Roche diving full length to his right with the Cherries upping the pressure on the Spireites defence.

47 Hurst broke down the left Paul Hall flicked the ball back to an advancing DEREK NIVEN whose low drive gave Cherries keeper Stewart no chance.1-0 Spireites

49 Larkin's run down the right but he failed to break clear of Broadhurst

50 Hayter to Ainsworth cross back towards Hayter was headed wide by the Bournemouth striker

51 Neat play by Hurst won the Spireites their second corner which was quickly followed by a third with Mark Allott's 20 yard shot being deflected high over Stewarts bar.

59 Paul Hall drove a shot wide after more neat build up play by the Spireites.

61 Paul Shaw released Colin Larkin from the centre circle. Larkin had a chase on with Cherries stopper Stewart who decided to dive at Larkin's feet first and the bal ran kindly for COLIN LARKIN to slot into an open goal from 25 yards 2-0 Spireites.

63 Broadhurst foul on Hurst resulted in a yellow card for the Cherries man.

67 Picken fouled Ainsworth Cooke's free kick was cleared behind by Downes. The corner was cleared by Chesterfield by Reuben Hazell and Eddie Howe clashed heads and welcome drinks were taken in the humid sticky cloudy heat of the south coast with both players receiving treatment before returning to play.

72 Pressure from Ainsworth on O'Hare earned the home side a corner which Downes cleared

83 Bournemouth nothing to lose pile pressure onto the Spireites goal but failed to create any openings

87 Keep ball by the Spireites ran the clock down to the final minute

89 Cummings won a corner off Phil Picken and the resultant corner was eventually knocked over the bar and watched by a grateful Barry Roche

Referee Taylor added 5 minutes of injury time

91 Caleb Folan broke down the right but screwed his shot wide of Stewart's goal,  Paul Hall kept the pressure on the Cherries defence and a series of corners ran the clock down still further.

93 Mark Allott's lob forward was won by Folan and he cut inside the box before tangling with Broadhurst and kicking the ball wide from the floor

94 Phil Picken tangled with James Hayter on the right hand touch line both players received yellow cards

95 Sloppy defending by the home side saw Caleb Folan's pass reaches PAUL SHAW who coolly slotted home to complete a comprehensive 3-0 victory
