Tickets For Troops has announced a new partnership with the Football League to provide free tickets to members of our Armed Forces this season and is delighted to reveal that Chesterfield is one of a number of participating clubs.
The new initiative will provide an opportunity for our troops to go and see their local teams all over the country.
This will create a fantastic chance for the clubs to back the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Airforce and thank them for all their hard work.
Gavin Megaw, Director of External Affairs at The Football League, said: "Football League clubs have a longstanding close relationship with the Armed Forces, and it is great to see Chesterfield Football Club supporting Tickets For Troops in this way.
The charity is a fantastic way of giving something back to our servicemen and women and The Football League is proud to be making a contribution to that effort."
Tickets For Troops Chairman, Lord Marland said: "Tickets For Troops has benefited from a great wave of generosity from our ticket donors who have wanted to demonstrate their support and show their appreciation for the dedication and commitment of the marvellous men and women of our Armed Forces.
I would like to thank The Football League for their kind and fantastic support in establishing this new relationship which enables troops from all corners of the country to support their local team."
Chesterfield chairman Barrie Hubbard said: "After supporting the 'Help for Heroes' charity last season we are delighted to maintain our support for the Armed Forces with the 'Ticket for Troops' initiative so we can extend a warm welcome to the B2net Stadium to the brave men and women who risk their lives every day."
The charity was set up last year to provide members of the Armed Forces with free tickets for major sporting events including football, horse racing, rugby, darts and cricket matches as well as theatre performances, music concerts and cultural attractions. Since launching it has provided over 200,000 tickets and almost 60,000 troops have registered on the website - www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk
This initiative has attracted maximum support from a host of Patrons, including Dave Whelan, Gary Lineker, and Jeremy Clarkson.
Patron Steven Gerrard MBE said: "Young men and women are risking their lives every day and Tickets for Troops is a very simple way of respecting their courage and their sacrifices."
Troops are encouraged to go online and register at www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk to take advantage of the fantastic tickets available for our Armed Forces.
