Saltergate's final hurrah!

Preparations are now being made for Saltergate's final hurrah - with special events on the Saltergate pitch to commemorate the final closure of the Recreation Ground after 139 years.

A giant marquee is being erected on the Saltergate pitch which will provide the centre-piece for a historic last weekend of nostalgia, entertainment and fun

The marque will hold 720 diners, serviced by special on-site catering provided by Coghlans, and table service bar installed for the occasion. There will be a sound and lighting rig for the entertainment, which will be enhanced by large TV screens televising the event as it happens.

Farewell Banquet

Coming up on Friday 4 June is the formal Farewell Banquet with a cavalcade of 50 Saltergate legends including Dave Blakey, Gordon Banks, Ernie Moss in front of a sell-out 720 people.

Playe rof the YearOn Saturday 5 June it's the annual Player of the Year Awards night with Chesterfield players in attendance and another sell-out event with 720 people.

 

On Sunday 6 June it's the Family Fun Day from 12 noon to 5.00pm with many family attractions and chance for one last look round.  Around 1,800 tickets for this event have been sold so far but it is still possible to pay on the day as well.
